Bradley, Kansas State Represent 2019 Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off Field in NCAA Tournament

FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 17, 2019) – Two teams participating in the 2019 Rocket Mortgage by Quicken Loans Fort Myers Tip-Off, Bradley and Kansas State, are heading to the NCAA Tournament after hearing their names called during the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday night.

 

The champion of the Big 12 regular season for the first time since 2013, and for the 19th time in program history, K-State is the No. 4 seed in the South Region and will face No. 13 UC Irvine on Friday. The Wildcats, who earned the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Tournament, will make their 31st NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and fifth under head coach Bruce Weber. With a win, the Wildcats would face either Wisconsin or Oregon in the second round on Sunday.

 

Bradley, winner of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, will make its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2006 when the No. 15 Braves take on No. 2 Michigan State in the opening round of the East Region on Thursday. A potential matchup against Louisville or Minnesota awaits in the second round. The Braves won three games in three days to claim the conference title for the first time 31 years, a run that included a victory over the tournament’s top seed Loyola Chicago, a 2018 Final Four participant and 2018 Fort Myers runner-up. Bradley will make its ninth all-time NCAA appearance.

Scheduled for November 25 & 27 at Suncoast Credit Union Arena, the second-annual Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off has quickly become a staple of the Southwest Florida sports calendar. After an exciting inaugural event that saw Boston College defeat 2018 Final Four participant Loyola-Chicago for the tournament championship last November, the event returns in 2019 with nationally recognized programs Bradley, K-State, Northwestern and Pittsburgh ready to compete for an early-season championship. To begin the 2018-19 season, Bradley (Cancun Challenge), K-State (Paradise Jam) and Pitt (Barclays Classic) each won their respective preseason tournaments.
